The EU Delegation to Ethiopia ensures:
the tasks of the EU Presidency in Ethiopia host country;
the representation of the European Union to Ethiopia;
the follow-up of bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, trade and external assistance cooperation (financial & technical);
the follow-up of EU policies in other sectors;
the follow-up of EU policies to identify opportunities for synergies and/or in-coherences between such policies and poverty reduction in line with policy coherence for development (Art 208 TFEU);
promotes and defends the values and interests of the EU;
coordinates the work of the Member States’ Embassies, particularly in the fields of EU competences, notably trade and external assistance;
carries out CFSP (Common Foreign Security Policy) demarches as appropriate; reports to Headquarters on all matters of interest for EU policies;
carries out press and public diplomacy activities in pursuit of the above;
ensures the long-term programming of aid and the management of programmes and devolved projects within the framework of the current reform of External Aid Management;
ensures implementation of the Communication on a stronger Partnership to deliver Market Access by means of market access teams;
ensures the follow-up of EU policies in all sectors in particular the Communication on a stronger partnership to deliver Market Access by means of market access teams; provides any necessary support for visits by Members of the EEAS, Commission, Council and Parliament.

We offer a post of Secretary in the Administration Section of the EU Delegation to Ethiopia. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy the specific job function as Secretary – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function, the successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities shall include:
Handle mission travels including ticketing, accommodation and programme of the Head of Administration and the ADMIN team
Management of the agenda of the Head of Administration
Welcoming and informing external visitors regarding the security regulations
Prepare purchase orders register contracts and valuable documents in ABAC (LCK) and in ARES
Assist the Administrative Assistant in HR matters
Drafting of correspondence and meeting minutes;
Compiling and updating employees’ records in hard and soft copies
Deal with travel agents and hotels regarding corporate rate agreements
Ensure all relevant documentation for bid proposals are complete and accurate
Manage the tender process for multiple proposals to stay on schedule and present them to the committee for review
Coordinate and communicate proposal document delivery
Ensure all technical, commercial and contractual correspondence with bidders are efficiently addressed
In charge of the Delegation’s stock of promotional items
Responsible for the settlement of the private telephone calls and ADSL bills from staff members
Assist in the preparation of public events
Serve as back-up for the procurement officer, the protocol officer, IT Support and HR officer
Perform other duties assigned by HoA
