Company Profile

The Ethiopian Cities Association (ECA), founded in 2009, is an alliance of 29 Ethiopian cities working towards improving the living conditions of the urban Ethiopian population. The Association is committed to contributing toward this end through the exchange of information, experiences, best practices and policy dialogue on pertinent urban development and city management issues. As a national platform it espouses the exchanging of knowledge and learning among Ethiopian cities to assist in the successful implementation of ongoing urban development reforms. The Cities Association thematic focus areas are urban planning, local economic development, urban governance and management and urban finance. It endeavors to address these issues by way of collecting and sharing international best practices, organizing seminars and workshops, study tours, forming thematic working groups and facilitating the placement and exchange of staff between member cities. It further contributes to the generation and dissemination of knowledge through annual events including the Ethiopian urban Forum.
The Association is a legally registered and licensed entity pursuant to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies Proclamation No.621/2009 article 68(1).
